Simon Jones of Morning of the Earth Surfboards handcrafts and shapes the finest seventies inspired retro surfboards. He has taken single fins and twin fins and enhanced their performance with contemporary design so these surfboards are beautiful, functional and a dream to ride.
Combining retro plan shapes, fin templates, & rocker with contemporary bottom shapes & rail configurations we are producing beautiful classic shapes that you will love to surf.
All our laminating techniques revolve around the lustre and subleties that are gained when using classic tints, pigments and trimmed laps.
Airbrushed murals were a feature of this era and we have continued this tradition as you will see.
We then gloss and polish to the highest quality.
Coastal Watch have published the following article which clearly describes what my objective is with these boards.

The first one was last year and it was a great event. A lot of effort goes into it and I'm sure it will be just as good this year. Might see you there. |

These are some stills taken from Andrew Kidman's recent work on Spirit of Akasha. I wont go into it here as its better explained on the Spirit of Akasha site. You can keep a track of the project there as it develops. As always Andrew applies his skill of giving us a fresh perspective and draws in collaborators from the same school of thought. It was an honour to make these boards for the project and to see the end result of one fin being as relevant today as it was 40 years ago. MP I'm sure was looking down on this period with a great run of waves and would have had a smile of satisfaction as MF hurled himself into this cutback that will remind us all of another famous turn. |

| The power and glide of 1 fin |
A young bloke from up the road a couple of weeks back gave his MP a run while a mate took some pics. I like the track thats on the face behind him, the lead up bottom turn. It was just as chunky as this hack. I love those periods between swells when its breaking everywhere. This was one of those days. |

A fine Novocastrian sent this to me(ages ago). It arrived during the most full on of rainy periods, there it was in this sodden package, all ripped open and exposed to the elements. Amazingly it was unscathed. Its a book of photos of a favourite place of his. Its put together by another Newcastle salty, who has an eye for the place and its moods. Flicking through it I began to think of how lucky surfers are when your roots go down into such amazing places. You grow to learn the moods it has in all seasons and times of day, and as a result you can't exist without it. If your after one email me and I'll put you in contact. Unfortunately I'm struggling on the file size with the full size pics, you get that. Thanks for the book BG. |

For the golden corn and the apples on the tree,
For the milk 'n' butter and the honey from the bees,
For the fruits and nuts and berries MP found along the way.
We thank Mother Earth for this, and everyone of Michael's waves.
